The Village

Inside the walls the village is broken up into districts, each focusing on one part of the village's life. The docks are located outside the walls, butted up to the Thassa. But there are other districts. In the North West there is the Mill District, which focuses on the Milling, storing and curing of the wood the Village deals in and in the North East is the service district, which focuses on the trades offered in Kassau, such as Healing, the Tavern, Scribe and Animal Handler’s office. In the Mid West is the residential district, where all the cabins of the FW in Kassau reside along with those visiting and just east of FW are the area for all slaves and the Main Hall where residents gather to talk and to enjoy entertainment with the Kitchen adjoined and just east of it is the residence of our Hold Jarl, his Woman and their Personal Guards, South of them are Their Daughter and Son and further east is the Sparr Pit and Library below it. In the South west is the residential district, where all the cabins of the FM in Kassau reside along with those visiting with the FA Qtrs below them to Guard the South Western Area that leads to the Thassa, east of him is the the Plaza and then the Gardens below. In the southeast is the Torture Chambers then the trade district, where our Metal Workers and Merchants deal in their goods, do their trades and cabins for them to stay in and the SA Qtrs below them to Guard the Southern Gates that lead to the River between the Village and the Northern Forest.

Over the whole of the Village can be smelled the scent of parsit fish, drying in the smoke house, and even out for quite some distance over the Thassa. Near the smaller gate to the south, the sound of merchants crying their wares, and to the north the sound of the waves of the Thassa. The smell of the freshly cut wood fills the air of the village, leaving so much for the eye, ear, and nose that many who come to Kassau are overwhelmed at their first experience.

The largest town south of Torvaldsland is Kassau, located at the northern edge of the northern forests. It is most well known as the seat of the High Initiate of the north who claims spiritual sovereignty over all of the north including Torvaldsland. His temple is the greatest building in Kassau, towering above the wooden huts and merchant homes of the rest of the residents. The nearest other Initiate temple is hundreds of pasangs south in the city of Lydius. During the events of Marauders of Gor, Ivar Forkbeard and his group of raiders sack and loot the temple, killing many of the Initiates.

The entire Village is protected by 30 FT walls of lumber and sharpened logs with defensive catwalks and tarn wire. The Entrances are Heavily Guarded and Armed Patrols on Every Street. The walls possesses only two gates. The larger gate faces the inlet to Thassa, allowing watercraft, both large and small, entrance to the port. The smaller gate leads south to the forest. Kassau has a population of about eleven hundred people. Kassau has many farmhouses out side their walls and there are also a number of nearby villages that rely on Kassau as their market place. Their population would thus make the total area population at around twenty-three hundred people.

Once Kassau was the seat of the High Initiate of the North until Ivar Forkbeard's memorable raid left the temple looted and burnt. The land, located at the northern brink of the forest, was again in control of the North. Rebirth of the village came under the leadership of the Hold Jarl, it soon becoming a sought out trade port for Torvaldsland, with the main exports being lumber, fish, and furs.

After the raid of the Forkbeard and the war with the Kurii the Leadership of Kassau petitioned the Bluetooth for admittance into Torvaldsland and Bluetooth accepted the Village under the condition that the Initiates were never again to have a temple or residence in Kassau.
